When the mould temperature is slightly below the requires level (some mould materials lose heat quickly, especially in thin sections, when removed from an oven for casting), the final product can have a surface moulding pattern , often similar to a Fern pattern.  Although cosmetically this may not be acceptable, it is probable that in applications where cosmetics are not important, this effect will not render the product any less fit for purpose.
